Facilities Management within the Met carries out a vital role on a daily basis.

Simply, we’re here to ensure a fit for purpose workplace, for one of the most highly respected police services in the world. To continue to offer our officers and colleagues the right environment to do their best work, we’re recruiting a new Assistant Facilities Manager. If you bring a can-do attitude and a passion for great service, you could be just who we’re looking for.

Based within the Met’s Property Services, you’ll be part of a dedicated team of facilities managers who are tasked with the compliance and smooth-running of the entire Metropolitan Police Service estate. Your focus will be on maintaining an environment that supports the safety, comfort and well-being of our officers and colleagues.

Reporting to the Senior Facilities Manager, you’ll have daily contact with our customers including residents, Knight Frank, KBR and our supply chain. And, you’ll liaise with senior managers and colleagues across Estates Management, Construction and Engagement. Another important part of your role will be to ensure all planned construction works are specified to minimise any operational disruption.

With this in mind, we’re looking for someone who can understand and voice the needs and aspirations of our people. It’s important that you’re an effective communicator, with the ability to command audiences at every level. You bring strong influencing skills and you’re a natural networker. Crucially, you’re ready to challenge, investigate and report on issues, as well as championing problem-solving methods and innovation.

Ideally, you hold a building industry professional qualification or you’re working towards one. You bring at least three years’ experience of delivery within a facilities management role, as well as membership of a relevant professional body. You’re also financially competent and IT literate. And when it comes to maintaining high performance standards, you lead by example.
