Sergeant / Detective Sergeant

A UNIQUE CITY. A UNIQUE SET OF POLICING CHALLENGES. A UNIQUE CAREER. POLICING LONDON IS A CHALLENGE LIKE NO OTHER.

Our mission is to keep London safe for everyone
We’re proud of the job we do to police London, and we’re proud of our people. The over 46,0000 people in our team are dedicated to serving 9 million+ people who call London home, as well as all those who work in or visit our city - one of the most dynamic and diverse in the world.

Policing a city as large, complex and culturally diverse as London presents a wide variety of challenges – and opportunities! It’s why we’re interested in Sergeants – a vital leadership role - with a range of life experiences and backgrounds.

Life as a Met Sergeant
Our vision is to be the most trusted police service in the world. The trust and confidence of the public towards us, the UK’s largest force, remains a central priority. Compassionate, courageous, professional and always acting with integrity – our values are a non-negotiable part of working for the Met. This is the Met we want all Londoners to know, a Met full of great people focused on doing the job well and who turn our values into action every day. This takes every single member of the Met, and as a Sergeant you will play a key role in bringing our values to life for your team.

You will achieve this by leading by example, upholding our professional standards, and leading your team through change. You will need to deliver results - in line with the Met’s mission and vision, values and priorities – to focus on the things that matter most to Londoners; working closely with our partners and the public and striving to achieve the best outcomes in the pursuit of justice and in the support of victims.
