Job Title: Resource Management Support

Salary: £30,294 to £32,552 plus a Location allowance of £1,639. You will receive £30,294 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £32,552 will be via incremental progression.

This is an exciting time to be working in Transformation at the Met. In addition to the unique and ever-evolving challenge of policing London, a post within the Transformation Directorate will put you right at the centre of historic large-scale transformation of the UK’s largest Police Service. As a portfolio officer, there are many opportunities for you to get involved with making London the safest global city, in a time of unprecedented change.

The Transformation Directorate specialises in delivering major change initiatives, using P3M (Project, Programme & Portfolio Management), project controls, business analysis and business change. The role of the portfolio office is to establish and maintain a deliverable and affordable portfolio of transformation programmes. The portfolio office is also responsible for setting programme and project management standards and processes, which will govern and support delivery.

This will be done through effective and consistent planning, reporting, governance, risk management, and resource management enabling evidence based decisions to be made. We can only do that by ensuring an accurate and high quality flow of information to decision makers, which is where you come in. We are looking for a new member of the team to work closely within the Resources Team to help deliver resource management outputs and deliverables.

The role is busy and requires someone with enthusiasm to manage a high volume of work to tight deadlines and someone who is able to work as part of a team to provide efficient and effective administrative support.

  • A process driven individual who can work with minimum supervision and a quick learner

Your key responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support for resource management activities, by working closely with the Resources team.
  • Maintain up to date information on resource deployment and utilisation across the Directorate and maintain information on short, medium and long term Transformation Directorate resource requirements
  • Support the management team and colleagues in all recruitment activities from booking interviews with internal and external candidates, arranging interview panels and the on-boarding of new starters.
  • Support the analysis of exit data and seek to address themes and issues arising from day to day activities
  • Day to day maintenance of skills database(s) for Transformation Directorates staff and officers, to facilitate effective mapping of resource skills to project / programme requirements
  • Supporting regular resource management meetings with the Directorate’s senior leadership team, including preparing accurate information on the project pipeline and resource availability
  • Manage administrative requirements of the Directorate’s staff, including the vetting process, locker, desk utilisation, software requirements and training logistics

Essential criteria

  • Must have 2 years proven administrative experience preferable in Resourcing and Recruitment
  • Proven ability to work effectively to deadlines
  • Someone who is a self-starter and has good problem solving skills
  • Must have a working knowledge and regular use of Microsoft Office applications and the internet, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint to at least intermediate level.
  • Must have experience in analysing and handling large volumes of data and statistics
  • Communicate complex issues effectively by telephone, in writing, by e-mail and in person to senior leadership team and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure prioritising competing demands effectively
  • Must be able to use their own Initiative, be flexible and have the ability to handle change in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to produce accurate summaries of meetings, actions, events and conversations
  • Able to work alone as well as working co-operatively as a team member
  • Able to deal with work of a confidential nature.
