Job Title: Accredited Financial Investigator & Confiscator
Salary: £37,569 to £45,189 plus a Location allowance of £1,639. You will receive £37,569 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £45,189 will be via incremental progression.

The MPS Economic Crime Command is part of Central Specialist Crime and specialises in the investigation of Fraud and Money Laundering offences and the conduct of Financial Investigations and has many and varied strands to tackle some of the most serious offenders and prevent them gaining financially from their crimes. We manage a wide range of investigations including sensitive, high profile enquiries that span National and International boundaries. We support BCU, pro-active syndicates and other specialist units with their financial enquiries, cash seizures, asset freezing and confiscations under the Proceeds of Crime legislation. The right candidate will have a positive impact on taking the profit out of crime and making London and the public safer by targeting Serious Organised Crime and High Harm Offenders.
As an Accredited Financial Investigator you will be part of a dedicated team of police officers and AFI’s within one of the Economic Crime hubs. This role involves investigating allegations of money laundering, tracing assets in the UK and overseas, analysing financial accounts and bank statements and compiling orders under The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) such as Cash Detention/Forfeiture Orders, asset and account freezing orders, Production Orders, Restraints and Confiscations. You will review tasking’s from other units and make informed decisions regarding further investigation. You will be expected to progress the applications through to forfeiture and/or confiscation and be confident and experienced in court procedures and processes including knowledge and understanding of CPIA disclosure rules.
The Economic Crime Command is also responsible for generating and conducting investigations from financial intelligence and also provides financial investigation support to other specialist departments and syndicates within the Metropolitan Police Service.

Vetting
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Accredited to part 5, 8 and 2/4 Proceeds of Crime Act (confiscator) - (or currently voluntarily suspended)
- Experience in applying for and obtaining a variety of POCA orders, including completion of s16 statements and S41 statements in support of restraint applications.
- To be able to demonstrate a capacity to undertake complex analysis of financial products using Altia analysis tool or similar.
- A good working knowledge of the CPIA disclosure rules
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in the preparation and presentation of POCA cases at Magistrates and Crown Court.
- Experience in the use of IT systems including:
- Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Ability to interrogate MPS databases including CRIS, CRIMINT+ and ARENA. Experience in using and understanding external databases including, Credit referencing, Land Registry, Companies House etc
- Knowledge of the SAR’s regime and experience/understanding of completing overseas financial enquiries.
