Job Title: Change Consultancy - Project Manager

Salary: £37,569 to £45,189 plus a Location allowance of £1,639.

Location: Lewisham

Who are we?

Part of the Transformation Directorate the Change Consultancy Team have been established to champion the way in which the Met delivers its change. We will set the standards and offer a bespoke service to a wide range of customers from helping individuals work out what they need to do to plan their projects, to facilitation of workshops, delivering bespoke training or being deployed to a project for a few weeks – no two days will be the same!  

We are seeking self-motivated Project and Change professionals to join our team. This is a unique opportunity for you to work with awesome people across the Met by providing a service to those that require help to deliver defined areas of work. This is not a typical project manager role as you will be involved in elements of project initiation, delivery, coaching and training.

We are looking for change professionals who would flourish in having an active role in delivering the Change Consultancy responsibilities which include the following Project initiation to set projects up for success

  • Project initiation to set projects up for success
  • Facilitated workshops to support planning, stakeholder mapping, risk, benefit and dependency management
  • Active deployments into projects to directly support according to need
  • Advising on project delivery methods proportionate and effective to the needs of a particular project
  • Supporting projects with resource utilisation and forecasting
  • Providing easily accessible training and coaching sessions according to specific needs identified
  • Sharing tools, templates and written guidance that are proportionate to the project and reflective of best practice
  • Setting and explaining the standards relevant to the project
  • Providing peer and critical friend reviews to support projects to be successful
  • Capturing and managing the Lessons Learnt so we can proactively share findings and ensure we remain cutting edge and improve.

Location: We want to provide you with the flexibility to balance a rewarding career with home-life and personal wellbeing. Though you will be based in Sydenham (SE26 5NF) our ambition is to make the best use of our shared space enabling a mixture of remote and office based work. You should expect a blend of office and home working including one day working at our base location and at least one day meeting together across the MPS estate.

Essential Criteria:

  • A project management background, with experience of managing and delivering in fast moving and multi-disciplinary environments
  • Some experience of being able to facilitate workshops
  • Some experience of coaching others to develop for example project plans, stakeholder maps, benefits and risks
  • Good attention to detail, strong organisational skills and able to undertake work and adapt to fast-paced working environments
  • Be articulate with good presentation and written communication skills
  • The ability operate effectively with customer’s team in order to deliver the required service and work amicably with stakeholders

Due to the secure nature of our work, successful candidates must pass all vetting and security requirements, including Counter Terrorism CTC, before they can be appointed.
