Join a collision repair team like no other

The Met has an extensive and diverse fleet that must be ready to roll out any second. It includes high end executive cars, armoured cars and vehicles fitted with the latest crime-fighting technology. As a Panel Beater/MET Technician, you’ll be part of trusted specialist team that keeps this fleet on the road. It’s a rare opportunity to join a vehicle collision repair team that’s unlike any other.

Based at our Specialist Vehicle Facility in West London, you’ll be part of our six-strong team to repair damage to covert, specialist and armoured vehicles. Because these vehicles are often fitted with cutting-edge equipment, you’ll be fixing those that would normally be considered uneconomical to repair. It all makes for an exciting and unique role where you’ll be using the latest techniques and technology. We’ll expect you to re-align and re-position vehicle bodies; remove dents and re-shape panels; and replace all kinds of components from light bulbs to a complete interior.

A skilled Panel Beater/MET Technician, you have experience in a similar role. Up to date with repair methods for the latest materials, you’ll have an apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Body Repair and Body Fitting. You should be qualified in both areas to City & Guilds levels 1&2 / NVQ level 3 / NVQ Adv or equivalent, and have the motivation and expertise to meet the highest standards. In return, you can expect outstanding benefits including a generous holiday allowance. Even better, you’ll get to play your part in protecting the people of London.

To apply, please visit our website to download a role specific information pack and click on the link to complete and submit the online application form. You will also be required to submit a detailed CV and a personal statement.

Completed applications must be submitted by 23.55pm on Monday 31st December.

Failure to supply all the relevant documents will result in your application being terminated.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
