The biggest police service in the country. Your most challenging role yet.

Could you craft a tweet for one million followers, provide expert social media advice to over 1,000 police officers and keep cool when the world media is breaking news about us? If the answer’s yes, join our award-winning social media team and help transform the way we communicate with Londoners.

The Metropolitan Police Service has arguably the busiest communications function in the world, fielding thousands of media enquiries and social media mentions during the course of a year. We’re on the forefront of police communications, leading the way as the largest police force in the country.

We don't just use social media to have a presence online; we use it as an operational tool alongside front line policing to help tackle the challenges we face in London.

Social media is a critical component of our communications strategy. We use our channels to share life-saving advice to the public in the event of a major incident and act as the definitive source for factual information during a crisis. You'll help us amplify our message with the world by streaming live media appeals and statements across all our channels.

You'll be part of our vision to boost our visibility, increase our reach and grow our engagement levels across all our online channels – reaching new audiences and engaging existing followers.

You'll support over 1,000 officers managing local social media accounts by delivering our bespoke training package and providing continuous support as we develop our channels and move into new platforms.

In addition to creating your own content and campaigns based on research and insight, the role will involve helping our busy press office to re-purpose video and CCTV footage for release to the public and media to help with a range of cases.

If you're up for the challenge, we offer generous benefits, including support for training and development, professional membership, season ticket loan and extensive sports and fitness facilities.

To apply, please visit our website to download a role-specific information pack and click on the link to complete and submit the online application form. You will also be required to submit a detailed CV and a Personal Statement detailing your suitability for the role.

Completed applications must be submitted by 23.55pm on Thursday 31st May.

Failure to supply all the relevant documents will result in your application being terminated.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
