Make sure the Met’s ready for anything

We do our best to ensure that major incidents never happen. But if they do, we need to be fully prepared and ready to jump into action. As a Business Continuity Adviser, you’ll make sure we can perform our role, no matter the emergency. It’s your chance to shape the way we work and ensure that we’re always there for London.

As part of the Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Unit, you’ll be part of a world-class police service. It’s a complex and demanding environment, where you’ll have the chance to work with a wide range of people, within and outside the Met.

Your aim is to ensure that we can respond effectively to any major incident. You’ll see that we’re able deliver our critical functions, whether it’s a civil disaster or terrorist-related disruption. That means building and shaping our Business Continuity Programme alongside our officers. Day to day, you’ll be developing and quality assuring impact analyses and plans, as well as conducting tests and exercises.

With training or experience in Business Continuity, you’ll bring valuable knowledge along with sound decision-making skills. You could have gained your expertise in the public or private sector – either way, you’ll be good with people and a natural negotiator. With these communication skills, you can deal with senior figures and contacts across the Met. If you don’t have accreditation with the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) already, we may be able to help you achieve this.
