The Volunteer Police Cadets is one of the fastest growing uniformed Youth Organisations in the country. Currently there are over 5,000 young Londoners aged between 10-19 years engaged in the programme which has units across every London borough.

We are currently recruiting adult leaders across all London Boroughs to help our Cadet Co-ordinators to run the programme.

There is a role for everyone, from helping to run the weekly meetings; administration roles; helping out at policing events alongside the Cadets and Police Officers; or helping to supervise outdoors activities together with qualified colleagues.

There may be opportunities to gain qualifications and training in skills such as Outdoor Leadership, Sports Leadership, Presentation Skills, Safeguarding Vulnerable People and Restorative Approaches.

Volunteering as an adult leader with the Volunteer Police Cadets can be an inspiring and enriching experience as you help to develop and encourage young people to achieve things that they never believed possible, and you might even surprise yourself!

IMPORTANT: Be certain that you are applying for the right volunteering role otherwise you risk wasting your time completing the wrong application. If you wish to join the Metropolitan Police as a volunteer Police Officer (i.e wear a police uniform and undertake operational duties on London's streets) then you should not apply to be a Volunteer Police Cadet Leader. Please go back to the Apply now web page and search for Special Constable Vacancies. If you do not wish to volunteer with young people please return to the Apply Now web page and search for Met Police Volunteer vacancies.

We regret we are not able to offer summer holiday/work experience/internship placements since

If you live on a London Borough please find your local VPC Unit page, choose the Borough in which you live, work or study and make contact with the local Co-Ordinator about joining instructions or go to the VPC Website and fill in the contact form

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
