Could you use modern technology to provide vital evidence?

As a Digital Forensic Technician in our Cell Site team, you’ll help us fight crime by helping to gather information about mobile phone usage.

The ability to analyse mobile phone use is often crucial to Met investigations. Through our specialist Cell Site team, we’re able to supply evidence with the power to make or break a case. As part of this small, friendly unit, you’ll learn all about cell site analysis and help our dedicated experts.

It’s a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge of a growing area. You’ll be undertaking cell site surveys, which involves driving vehicles and carrying moderately heavy RF survey equipment. You’ll then help senior cell site engineers to prepare equipment and gather evidence including call schedules, mapping and other cell site information. The next step is to prepare the information for court (and present it as a factual witness if necessary).

With a love of technology, you’ll be keen to learn the technical details behind cell site analysis. You’ll have a technical qualification (HND/HNC or higher) in a relevant discipline or proven experience in a forensic or technical field. Whatever your background, you’ll have some knowledge of modern radio-based communication systems, ideally including cellular networks (GSM, UMTS and LTE) and Wi-Fi. This expertise should come with an eye for detail and an analytical mind. With the communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical colleagues, you’ll be a natural problem solver with the desire to help London.

Please note that a full UK driving licence is essential along with at least one year’s driving experience.

Completed applications must be returned by 6th January 2020
