Use your skills in sound to keep our city safe.

London is one of the world’s most exciting, diverse cities. And policing it isn’t easy. It takes a huge number of people, from all kinds of backgrounds, with a wide range of skills and experience. Our Forensic Services function is at the forefront of Metropolitan Police (MPS) investigations, delivering a range of technical and scientific expertise to help solve crimes.

We’re now looking for a Digital Forensic Technician to work at our Audio Laboratory and maximise the forensic potential of any audio evidence we acquire.

This evidence will come from a range of recording types and devices, so we’re looking for someone with detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of both digital and analogue systems. This will be backed up by a degree, or demonstrable experience, in a relevant technical subject.

We need someone who can explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience, handle competing demands, and stay completely focussed under pressure. Naturally, you’ll be interested in and know all about emerging audio technologies and trends, including the impact they could have on our work.

This is an excellent opportunity to use your audio skills to fight crime – in a stimulating, innovative and professional environment.

To apply, please visit our website and download a role specific information pack. Applications will be via a detailed CV and online application form.

Completed applications must be returned by 10th January 2020.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
