Job Title: Senior Facilities Manager

Salary: £47,538 - £58,438 plus a location allowance of £1,043

This is an exciting time to be working as a Senior Facilities Manager for the Metropolitan Police Service. As Senior Facilities Manager with responsibility for maintaining electronic security services (ESS) across the MPS, you will play a major role in ensuring the estate remains secure and complies with all relevant corporate policies and legislative requirements, protecting our people, assets, and information.    The vacancy sits within the Property Service Department (PSD) Facilities Management ‘hard’ services team. You will be expected to have strong technical, procurement and management skills across a broad range of electronic security systems including the enabling hardware and supporting software. Utilising these skills and relevant experience, you will manage the ESS elements of the FM supply chain, delivering planned and reactive maintenance services and minor ESS projects across the estate. You will be required to oversee the management of one or more ESS term contracts, ensuring KPIs, SLAs and contract deliverables are achieved and maintained. Working in partnership with our ESS suppliers, you will encourage innovation and improved service delivery whilst challenging and assisting where performance is below the required standard. You will play a key role in the future development and procurement of ESS supply chain contracts, providing valuable input to ensure future contracts fully meet the needs of a transforming estate. As the Senior Facilities Manager for ESS, you will form part of an intelligent client function based at one of the PSD's area bases, either in Sidcup or Hendon. However, you will be required to adopt an agile working approach, involving regular travel across the estate. Whilst the role will be challenging, it will be both rewarding and interesting, allowing you to work across a diverse estate.

Essential Criteria

  • Must have an appropriate professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills (oral and written) with a demonstrable ability to work effectively and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrable customer service skills, with the ability to successfully manage customer queries and complaints from all levels of the business, both face to face and in writing.
  • Must have management experience in the built environment, with a working knowledge of operational, maintenance, procurement and best practice specifying.
  • Understanding of physical and electronic security systems including their application within, and importance to, Estate security.
  • Demonstrable understanding of closed circuit television and video entry systems (digital and analogue), recording systems, RAID servers, cabling, monitoring and software to include the legislative framework for CCTV use in the public domain and data protection compliance requirements (for both Custody and standard policing environments).
  • Demonstrable understanding of internal and external intruder detection systems, intruder alarms and personal attack systems including hardware, software, links with telephony systems and their installation and maintenance.
  • Experience of specifying and managing the delivery and maintenance of the full-range of sophisticated ESS installations and security overlays in a complex, high pressure working environment.



Desirable Criteria

  • Membership of a recognised professional body
  • Membership of a relevant professional body/institute.
  • Knowledge of modern access control software control systems including hardware, software and database management.
  • Demonstrable understanding of complex access control systems including the hardware and software and their interaction with physical infrastructure (e.g. gates and CCTV).
  • Demonstrable understanding of closed circuit television and video entry systems (digital and analogue), recording systems, RAID servers, cabling, monitoring and software to include the legislative framework for CCTV use in the public domain and data protection compliance requirements (for both Custody and standard policing environments).
  • Demonstrable understanding of internal and external intruder detection systems, intruder alarms and personal attack systemsincluding hardware, software, links with telephony systems and their installation and maintenance.
  • Experience of specifying and managing the delivery and maintenance of the full-range of sophisticated ESS installations and security overlays in a complex, high pressure working environment.
  • Use of computer aided design systems to create design information for projects and the ability to correctly interpret complex drawings and documentary information.
