Job Title: CTP - NaCTSO - Business Engagement Support Officer - Band E

Salary: £26,611 to £28,604 plus a Location Allowance of £1,639.

The National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) Business Engagement Unit (BEU) is a dedicated team with a national responsibility to engage with business and industry. They provide approved and authoritative Counter Terrorism (CT) advice and guidance to business, industry, local government and specific sectors, communities and organisations to reduce the risk of terrorism.

 The post holder will work within the NaCTSO Business Engagement Unit (BEU). The role includes liaison with the team, wider NaCTSO team, regional CT network and industry across UK. There will be a responsibility for co-ordinating team meetings; booking and organisation of diarised meetings and inviting attendees. The Support Officer will be managing appointments, completing administrative and supporting tasks for events, taking meeting minutes and providing general support for the team with daily administrative needs. The post and NaCTSO will also support functions of the National Coordinator Protect and Prepare (NCPP) as required, which is part of the National Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters (NCTPHQ). The role will support with the Information Sharing Platform (ISP – new project development by NaCTSO) regarding events and new products that this team will produce.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support meetings, events and training opportunities for the team
  • Arrange meetings and take minutes
  • Provide a range of supporting tasks to aid delivery of business engagement to the private sector
  • Dealing with telephone and email enquiries
  • Record keeping and handling sensitive material
  • Acting as meeting secretary for the team
  • Management of contact lists for the Business Information Exchange and Business Independent Advisory Group
  • Liaise with event venue managers re: building access and on the day facilitation, accommodation etc.
  • Manage catering requirements for courses including ACT Corporate events
  • Carry out NaCTSO general office responsibilities as required
  • Undertake other tasks as directed
  • Support with project work regarding the Information Sharing Platform (supplementary).

Vetting and STRAP

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.

Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

Essential Criteria

  • The post holder must have:
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills as the post holder is required to support a small team within the HQ and will require liaison with a national network of Counter Terrorism Security Advisors / Counter Terrorism Awareness Advisors and industry partners in the private sector
  • The ability to work under pressure to meet demanding deadlines
  • The ability to plan and organise
  • Competent IT skills, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Prepared for occasional travel nationally to support events and meetings
  • Not to hold any external posts or business interests that might conflict with confidentiality or integrity requirements of the role
  • To be prepared to sign a binding confidentiality agreement in relation to knowledge gained throughout ancillary to the performance of duties

Desirable Criteria (but not essential)

  • Protective Security understanding
  • Previous experience of the CT environment or administrative experience across a commercial function
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully delivering administrative and operational support within a commercial environment or similar
