Salary: £50,636 - £61,754 (inclusive of £1,639 location allowance). Upon joining you should expect to receive £50,636, followed by annual incremental progression. There is an opportunity to start higher up the band depending on skills and experience. In addition, we provide a substantial 20% employer pension contribution and 28 days leave on entry.

Location: We want to provide officers and staff with the flexibility to balance a rewarding career with home-life and personal wellbeing. Though you will be based in Sydenham (SE26 5NF) our ambition is to make the best use of our shared space enabling a mixture of remote and office based work. You should expect a blend of office and home working including one day working at our base location and at least one day meeting together across the MPS estate.

Job role: Although many of our change projects are enabled through improvements in technology, we are not looking for IT project managers. We are looking for a senior leader who has proven project delivery experience across a range of programmes and projects. This is a hands-on delivery role where you will use your project management, change and leadership experience to drive organisational change, develop new business models and structures, and implement new ways of working.

Key responsibilities:

  • To champion and implement effective project delivery by providing overall direction and leadership for the project delivery team, building capability and understanding
  • To lead the projects set up, management and delivery to required professional standards; including managing inter-dependencies and identifying, influencing and resolving risks, tracking and controlling costs and benefits through engagement and problem solving.
  • To build and maintain critical working relationships with a range of stakeholders to enable effective partnership working to resolve problems to benefit operational policing.
  • To complete all project documentation and reporting requirements, managing resources to ensure project outputs are delivered to time, cost and quality
  • To ensure effective management of commercial arrangements ensuring all commercial viable options are appraised as part of business case development, contracts provide value for money and the performance of contracted parties are in accordance with governance arrangements.

Experience:

As the successful candidate you will have hands-on delivery experience within a complex change portfolio or programme and be able to respond confidently to challenges, breaking down barriers and providing insight to make evidence based decisions. You will be experienced in managing multiple stakeholders and in balancing competing demands with the confidence to influence, negotiate with and provide challenge at all levels. You can work with integrity and have the ability to use your professional knowledge and experience to solve problems and find sustainable solutions.
