Role – MO7 Taskforce Mounted Branch Sergeant
Location - Subject to Operational need – based at one of the Operational Units of Bow, Lewisham, Hammersmith, West Hampstead, Great Scotland Yard
Eligibility – Substantive uniformed Sergeants or those on the select list for promotion to Sergeant

Role & Responsibilities.
- Supervision of mounted patrols supporting the policing of Public order, sporting and ceremonial events throughout the MPS.
- Dealing with pre planned and spontaneous public disorder, assisting with intelligence led crime reduction, reassurance patrols, community engagement opportunities, CT operations and supporting MPS CATO & BOCU Priorities.
- Supervising all aspects of a Mounted Branch operational unit including horse riding & training, horse care and management.
Essential Criteria.
- Currently Public Order trained or previously trained with recent (within the last 3 years) public order experience. Selection will be based on merit however applications are encouraged from active officers who can provide evidence of a strong operational and public order background.
Desirable Criteria.
- PSU Commander trained
- It would be desirable for applicants to have a basic awareness of horse management and be able to walk, trot, canter and demonstrate a change of rein but not essential. The training provided at the Metropolitan Police’s Mounted Branch Training Establishment (MTE) will be specifically focused on giving you the riding skills you need to transfer your policing skills into the Mounted Branch. A suitability course combined with the Standard Equitation Certificate allows for non-riders to be exposed up to 20 weeks of expert training. This full time course takes place at MTE. Accommodation is available upon request.

The MPS values will be tested throughout the paper-sift and at interview.
All examples must be verified (with contact numbers) with no more than one example per cluster and no more than 300 words Arial font 11. Failure to adhere to the above will mean that the application will not proceed
Following a paper sift, successful applicants will be invited to attend an Assessment day at MTE (Mounted Training Establishment) in Thames Ditton, Surrey which will include a riding assessment, CVF based interview and two practical police scenario role plays.
