Shift Pattern – Office Hours 0900-1700. This post will require some out of hours work (phones call with DPS etc.)

- Professional Standards Unit: Both public complaint and misconduct investigations. Complaints reductions and upholding standards across the OCU.
Standard hours of business are Monday to Friday 0900-1700. Smarter and flexible working opportunities are possible. Previous experience in handling complaints or misconduct is desirable however just as important are candidates who have recent operational policing experience, good communication skills and enthusiasm. Please note this role may be asked to backfill or be sent on AID at times. Candidates will be asked to sign a confidentially agreement.
Essential Criteria –
- Recent operational policing experience.
- Substantive Sergeants and any officer on the Select List for Sergeant
- Not be part of any ongoing discipline matter.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and engagement skills
- Ability to think/work strategically.
- Demonstrate a strong desire to improve standards and support the Taskforce work around prevention and learning and Responsible Leadership.
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally to a high standard to a range of colleagues, senior officers and external stakeholders.
- Deliver effective presentations
Desirable Criteria –
- Understanding of complaint and misconduct investigations
- Working knowledge of the Standards of Professional Behaviour and the Code of Ethics.
- Some knowledge of the Police Conduct Regulations, Police (Complaints and Misconduct) Regulations and Police (Performance) Regulations.
- Working knowledge of Centurion and other MPS systems (Evidence.com, Cris, Crimint, PNC)
- Experience of working with internal and external partners
- Experience of line management / supervision / leadership
