Job Title: CTP - ICT Architecture Demand Officer

Salary: £43,292 to £47,380 plus a Location allowance of £1,639. You will receive £43,292 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £47,380 will be via incremental progression.

Job Summary

This role will be responsible for the implementation of CTPHQ ICT requirements.

This will include business accommodation (i.e. decants) and also technical facility moves (i.e. live and test infrastructure).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on the Technical Scoping, Planning, Management and delivery into service of MPS (SO15 CTC) ICT & National CT ICT projects and work packages.
  • Work on the technical scoping, planning, management, and delivery into service of national government ICT projects and work packages (Working with Home Office, Cabinet Office, and MOD).
  • Provide Technical support, advice and guidance to the above units on a frequent / daily basis.
  • Carrying out technical surveys and produce relevant documentation.

This role is moving to Empress State Building, September 2022

Vetting

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post.

Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of various ICT systems and infrastructures.
  • Knowledge of the Government Security Classification (GSC) levels and an understanding of the Cabinet Office Security Policy Framework.
  • Knowledge of CPNI standards and policies.
  • Knowledge of SO15 & National CT technologies and systems.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations and their application within the ICT domain.
  • Knowledge of CT operations and Major Incident protocols and structure.
  • Knowledge of Policing CT Function within wider Government ‘partner’ agencies (Home Office, Cabinet Office, and MOD).
  • Knowledge of Security Accreditation standards and policies.
  • Previous experience of working on large scale security projects

Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written by which to communicate effectively and accurately with customers and stakeholders on technical and non-technical issues.
  • Ability to deal with a wide variety of roles and ranks both within the Police Service and Government Partners.
  • Ability to prioritise operational demands with normal technical duties, whilst maintaining levels of service.
  • Ability to focus on customer’s technical requirements and ensure that practical solutions are achieved.
  • ICT equipment delivery and site installation (desktops, infrastructure, communications equipment).
  • ICT decommissions and secure disposals of equipment.
  • Technical ability to operationally support customers / users within the field.
  • Technical project planning and implementation skills.
  • Customer requirements and technical scoping / survey.
  • Ability to manage customer expectations and ensure realistic technical outcomes are achieved.
  • Strong team player with a cross partnership / inter Government working ethos.
  • Be prepared to work extended / outside normal hours when required.
  • Be prepared to work outside the M25 when required.
  • Willing to undergo National security vetting & STRAP clearance
  • Clean Full UK driving licence for MPS Driving Permit Level 4

Experience:

  •  Proven experience of communicating effectively both orally and in writing (both technical and non-technical)
  • Experience in understanding and resolving practical ICT issues, including onsite fault finding and problem solving.
  • Experience in dealing with corporate and specialist communications systems from and installation and support function.
  • Experience in assisting writing user guides, policies and standard operating procedures in relation to the use and operation of technology.
  • Operational Policing experience allowing a transfer of practical knowledge and skills to solution delivery.
  • Experience of Government Security Classification (GSC), CPNI and Cryptography administration.
