MO3 Covert Policing - Human Surveillance is responsible for delivering surveillance (both armed and unarmed) across the MPS and occasionally across the United Kingdom.

Applications are invited to join MO3 Human Surveillance as a Police Sergeant in the role of Surveillance Team Leader. This is an exciting role managing one of the 18 dedicated surveillance teams.

As a surveillance team leader, your role will be to lead a team covertly monitoring individuals and gathering evidence and intelligence to support operations and investigation teams across the MPS and the National CT network. We are looking for officers with excellent communication skills, a strong ability to prioritise information/ intelligence and to mitigate/manage risk.  You should have a good working knowledge of RIPA and associated legislation. We are interested in officers who are confident in managing, supporting and developing staff. You will be encouraged and supported to develop your own skills by undertaking firearms and advanced surveillance training.

The role of a surveillance team leader is a skilled role, requiring officers to think on their feet and remain calm under pressure. Whilst reasonable adjustments can be made it often demands a flexible approach to working and the hours can be unsociable. If selected, you will lead a well-trained, well-equipped and highly motivated team that are at the cutting edge of investigating organised crime and CT, working alongside key partner agencies.

This application is open to substantive Police Sergeants only at this time.

Due to the covert nature of our role it is fundamental for operational success that our teams blend into and reflect the diverse communities in London. We actively encourage officers from minority groups and female candidates to apply.
