Police Constable DPS Professional Standard Unit

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the transformation of the Professional Standards Units that now forms part of DPS-HQ. Critical to our success will be the collaboration and engagement between DPS PSU’s and local B/OCU leads along with other units within DPS to ensure a joined up and co-ordinated approach. Working together and maintaining direct lines of communication will create a sense of shared ownership and commitment to upholding professional standards.

As a Constable, you will be responsible for making contact with members of the public who have made a public complaint, to agree Heads of Complaint (HOC) and terms of reference for handling their complaint. You will handle matters ‘other than by investigation’, along with public complaints and conduct matters that require investigation, as well as completing written reports for the DPS and other interested parties.

You will liaise with key stakeholders both internal and external such as the IOPC/MOPAC/Other DPS units as part of your role, as well as supporting your supervisors in providing necessary advice, guidance and training to improve Professional Standards across your B/OCU. You will also support the Professional Standards Review Meeting by identifying emerging threats and trends and complete research / support as required.
