This is an exciting time to be working in Intelligence for the Intelligence Bureau of the DPS Anti-Corruption and Abuse Command. The Intelligence Bureau comprises of a number of smaller teams responsible for the development and assessment of intelligence for the DPS. The Analyst and Research Department is an integral part of the team and pivotal in delivering the Commissioners objectives of More Trust, Less Crime and High Standards.

The purpose of this small team is to safeguard the staff and infrastructure of the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) through effective research and analysis. You’ll use multiple internal and external databases to look for information and intelligence on MPS employees of concern and corrupters. You’ll review police reports on each person, their family and associates and summarise the information in intelligence reports to be shared with investigation teams.

With the ever evolving challenges associated with countering corruption and improving professional standards in London, making the best use of the intelligence available is central to our ability to target some of the most sophisticated organised crime groups in the UK who look to corrupt our staff.

You’ll be dealing with intelligence receipt, review and delivery that originate from covert and sensitive sources and developing research profiles which will assist in highlighting opportunities to provide the greatest operational impact to ensure that risks are identified and mitigated.

As a Band E Intelligence Researcher you’ll be working with the analyst team and the wider Intelligence Bureau in supporting the gatekeeper function; firewalling sensitive intelligence in order to manage risks and support ongoing investigations and operations. Your role will require you to conduct research to support operational delivery, to disseminate intelligence within the MPS and externally whilst identifying opportunities for onward operational development. Liaising with partners as required in order to maintain outstanding service delivery.

We are looking for excellent communicators who are thorough, detailed, pro-active and take pride in delivering the best service they can in this changing landscape. You must be willing to learn, develop yourself and your team.

As part of this role there will be frequent use of sensitive systems to allow for partner engagement throughout the UK, training will be provided on these systems as well as other areas of the IB remit and role.

Please be advised, this role attracts a shift allowance of 12.5% and consists of shift work between 0700 – 1900hrs.
