An opportunity has arisen for a researcher to be recruited into the multi- agency safeguarding hubs within London’s Metropolitan Police Service. 

This is an exciting time to be working as a safeguarding researcher for the Metropolitan Police Service. In addition to large-scale transformation, there is the unique and ever-evolving challenge of policing London. Role:

The role of Researchers will support the MASH desk in providing written research reports to be shared with partner agencies and will be pivotal in the safeguarding of London’s children and adults.  You will work closely with Safeguarding and Children/Adult Social Care. The role involves researching families using all police indices, and providing written reports for CONNECT to send to partners and adhere with the agreed sharing safeguarding protocols. 

You will need to have the confidence in report writing and prioritising your workload within this extremely busy environment.  You will carry out all administrative duties pertaining to the role and systems that are in place.

Key responsibilities:

  • You will undertake research and interrogate MPS intelligence systems including IIP, PND, Merlin, CRIS, CRIMINT PLUS, CONNECT, and VISOR.
  • You will produce written reports from research in support of MASH desks
  • You will complete initial research of referral subjects for the referral manager and support the work of police colleagues as required within MASH and operational policing environment.
  • You will comply with MPS, ACPO and Management of Police Information (MoPI) standards.

Essential skills and experience criteria:

  • Ability to be able to prioritise work to maximise efficiency
  • Experience of maintaining high standards when working under pressure
  • Knowledge of and competency around Policing IT systems in order to conduct research
  • Ability to write a comprehensive and accurate reports
  • Work as part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to undertake and pass non contact based OST
  • Willingness to undertake a psychological screening with MPS Occupational Health.

Desirable skills and criteria:

Knowledge of PND, records management and other policing systems desirable.
