Your behind-the-scenes support will keep millions safe.

London is home to nearly nine million people. It’s an evolving and dynamic city, which means we face complex policing challenges every day. And by joining one of our Counter Terrorism Investigation Teams, you’ll play a crucial part in protecting those around you.

As a HOLMES Indexer, you’ll help us manage the intricate process of investigating serious crimes. With your excellent attention to detail, you’ll maintain designated indices on the Counter Terrorism National Database, cross-reference information, raise any actions for investigation, and identify intelligence development opportunities. It’s about handling large volumes of material in an organised, methodical way, as well as working to agreed timelines. By doing so, we can be even more efficient solving or detecting crimes both swiftly and successfully.

This is a chance to be right at the heart of Counter Terrorism policing. It takes great communication and IT skills, balancing competing priorities, using your initiative, and supporting your colleagues. Plus, because we protect London 24/7, you might need to work long hours at short notice. So flexibility is key. What’s more, experience of working in a police Major Incident Room is an advantage, as is being PNC trained. But in return, you’ll have a role with real personal impact, and the potential to develop an exciting, long-lasting career at the Met.

To apply, please visit our website to download a role-specific information pack and ensure that your online application form is submitted by 9th December 2019.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
