Job Title: Covert Authorities Compliance Officer
Salary: £28,163 to £30,333 plus a £2,623 location allowance. If you are new to the MPS you will receive £28,163 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £30,333 will be via incremental progression.
Location: New Scotland Yard
Shift Pattern: Flexi between 8am - 6pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Initially if selected: As Gatekeeper, the administration, quality assurance and coordination of applications made under Part II Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 for Directed Surveillance. Will include Directed Surveillance in HMPPS establishments (OPT)
- Provide advice to operational officers and Authorising Officers (Superintendents or Assistant Commissioner’s) concerning the completion of the above applications and authorities.
- Updating various computer systems to maintain a central record of authorities.
- To progress to the MO5 Covert Authorities Bureau (CAB) for administration, quality assurance and coordination of applications made under Part III Police Act 1997 for Property Interference, Part II Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 for Intrusive surveillance and Part 5, Investigatory Powers Act 2016 for Equipment Interference.
- Presentations to the Assistant Commissioner who is the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO) on behalf of the applicant.
- Daily contact with the Investigatory Powers Commissioners Office (IPCO), MO3 Technical Surveillance Unit, other law enforcement agencies, Police Constabularies and Prison Service (OPT).
- Any other duties as directed by line manager
