TRANSFER TO LONDON AS A PC OR D

  • Use your skills to tackle the challenges of London
  • Join an expanding police service with new and exciting challenges and investment
  • Benefit from London allowance and free London travel

From Hounslow to Harrow, Lambeth to Lewisham, London is as vast as it is diverse. As our city evolves, so do we, and we’re proud of where we’re headed. Join us and you’ll be part of the UK’s biggest police service, responsible for protecting one of the world’s most vibrant and dynamic cities, keeping the streets and all of its people safe.

The Met is transforming and one of the largest and most evident changes is the way in which frontline police officers work alongside one another in our 12 Basic Command Units (BCUs) formed from the previous 32 London boroughs.

 The opportunities

Policing London is a challenge like no other and we are looking for uniformed and detective constables with a variety of skillsets to join us, enhance their career and take on this challenge.

We are excited to have a range of opportunities across London for experienced uniform constables in response policing.

For experienced detectives we have positions within our BCUs for serious and complex investigations. We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have experience in proactive, reactive and safeguarding.

A majority of our opportunities are in our BCUs, however if you are currently working in a specialist command or are a qualified surveillance officer or traffic collision investigator you should evidence this as there is the potential to work within the same role or equivalent.

We understand the importance of individual policing experience and will work with you to understand your skillset and post you to meet your needs and ours, taking into consideration your geographical preferences.

A rewarding experience

If you are looking for an opportunity to further your career and uncover new challenges, then London’s Met is the right place for you.

We provide all of our officers with additional allowances on top of the national pay scale to reflect the London working location, and offer free travel on TFL services and heavily subsidised travel schemes on National Rail for use both on and off duty.

Transferring to the Met

An enhanced salary package, an expanding police service, the different departments and countless opportunities on offer for even the most experienced officers to expand their skills working in one of the world’s most vibrant cities – this is an exciting time to transfer to the Met.

If you are interested in taking on this new challenge and have any questions, please contact us. The Met Recruitment Team is available at Transferees@police.sscl.com and by telephone on 01633 632500

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges we need a workforce that is representative of the people we serve. Applications from across all communities are therefore welcomed.
