CHIEF SUPERINTENDENTS AND DETECTIVE CHIEF SUPERINTENDENTS

NEW CHANGES, NEW CHALLENGES, NEW CHIEF SUPERINTENDENTS. BE AT THE HEART OF A CHANGING SERVICE.

London is changing, the expectations of Londoners are changing – and the Met Police is changing too.

This is an exciting time to be working for the Met. In addition to large-scale transformation, there’s the unique and ever-evolving challenge of policing London. This means that as a Chief Superintendent, you must provide strong leadership in a time of unprecedented change within the Metropolitan Police Service.

The Met is going through the most significant period of change it has ever experienced. Against this backdrop, the role of Chief Superintendent is also changing. We will look to you to deliver in line with organisational priorities, working in partnership to understand, realise and reflect the diverse needs of our customers and communities in all that we do. Being an integral part of the Leadership Team, you will be responsible for driving through the largest change to take place in our organisation’s history. You will achieve this by upholding our professional standards, overseeing the management of large teams and delivering projects, both locally, and across London.

As a leader, often with independent command, you’ll face a number of challenges including dramatic crime reduction, ensuring that our policing style meets community expectations, and maintaining effective policing against a changing economic climate.

We will be holding candidate briefings at NSY room G1 on the 11th and 19th November, prior to the closure of the expression of interest window to provide you insights into this promotion process. The briefings will be opened by Deputy Commissioner Sir Steve House, and guest speakers will provide advice as to how you can look to prepare for this process. If you are interested in attending one of these briefings please contact us on 01633 632500 (option 4). Alternatively you can book onto a session by selecting ‘book’ alongside the session you are able to attend.

Session 1 Monday 11th November 5.30-6.30pm Book

Session 2 Tuesday 19th November 5.00-6.00pm Book

This career opportunity is open to exceptional Superintendents/Detective Superintendents looking for promotion. Chief Superintendents/Detective Superintendents with a proven track record of effective delivery are also encouraged to apply.

All expressions of interest must be submitted by 23:55pm on Wednesday 20th November, with completed applications being submitted by 23:55pm on Monday 2nd December 2019.

Applicants who have been unsuccessful for promotion in their own force within the previous 12 months will need to provide the Met with the specific feedback and development plan that demonstrates they have addressed the development areas.
