Job Title: AirSpace System Support Officer.

Salary: £28,726 to £30,940 plus a Location Allowance of either Zone 1 - £2,623 or Zone 2 - £1,518 depending on where you are based. You will receive £28,726 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £30,940 will be via incremental progression.

AirSpace is the MPS system for recording and managing Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) incidents and is supported within the Continuous Policing Improvement Command (CPIC).  As such this critical system requires ongoing development and maintenance which this staff role will support the AirSpace manager in providing.

Responsibilities will also cover the development and maintenance of other electronic systems, within AirSpace.  Demand can be high at short notice with tight legislative and organisational deadlines.

Tenure of at least two years until CONNECT drop 2 replaces AirSpace.

The default base will be Marlowe House however the command supports appropriate smarter working through line management of a Smarter Working Agreement Document.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The post holder should have knowledge of MPS anti-social behaviour recording and management requirements.
  • Understanding of the Management of Police Information. Understanding of Borough Policing, in particular safer neighbourhoods.
  • Understanding of other MPS IT systems and how they relate to each other.
  • Ability to understand and use all aspects of the AirSpace system.
  • They must be able to use Microsoft Excel to an intermediate level, and have knowledge of SQL.
  • Have experience of Visual Basic programming.
  • Effective communication skills to enable the role holder to prepare reports and respond to emails.
  • Ability to prioritise work and occasionally work under pressure and to deadlines.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in computer coding and testing
  • Knowledge and experience of VBA and SQL

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of Neighbourhood policing and the use of AirSpace
  • Working knowledge and understanding of MPS Anti-Social Behaviour reporting and recording policy
