This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of the teams based within the South West (SW) Safeguarding hub.

You’ll use police databases to look for information and intelligence on vulnerable people and high risk offenders. You’ll review police reports on each person, their family and associates and summarise the information in intelligence reports to be shared with partner agencies. This will help us decide which agencies need to act and how best to safeguard the public and vulnerable people.

Every day you’ll be making sure we are there to safeguard the public and in particular those that are particularly vulnerable and need us the most. Your work has the potential to identify and safeguard children and vulnerable adults whilst assisting in managing the risk that High Risk offenders pose. It is therefore vital that you can analyse information and identify the key points. You’ll also need good written and typing skills, plus knowledge of Word and Excel. Above all you’ll need the confidence to raise concerns and meet deadlines under pressure. In return, we offer training on our databases and a range of rewards and benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

To be an integral part of the SW BCU Safeguarding Hub including CSE, CCE, Missing persons and Jigsaw. You will:

  • Undertake research using MPS intelligence systems including IIP, PND, Merlin, CRIS, PNC, CRIMINT Plus, and ViSOR; and open sources.
  • Produce reports from research in support of MAPPA meetings, Multi agency strategy meetings and other staff.
  • Complete initial research relating to referrals from MAPPA
  • Support the work of Police colleagues as required within the Safeguarding hub environment.
  • Comply with MPS, ACPO and MOPI standards.
  • All administrative duties pertaining to the role and systems in place.

The role is office hours Monday to Friday
