Sergeant to Inspector 2019 Promotion Process

6040

Inspector / Detective Inspector

London is changing, the expectations of Londoners are changing, and the Met Police is changing too.

This is an exciting time to be working for the Met. In addition to large-scale transformation, there’s the unique and ever-evolving challenge of policing London. This means that as an Inspector, you will need to provide strong leadership and management in a time of unprecedented change within the UK’s largest Police Service.

Now, more than ever, we need individuals at the Inspector rank, who can instil confidence and trust in officers, teams, partners and the wider community. We are looking for candidates who have a strong track record of delivery in a variety of environments. This includes an ability to work to corporate and local objectives within a culture of change, as well as managing their resources effectively.

As a leader, you’ll face a number of challenges including dramatic crime reduction, ensuring that our policing style meets community expectations, and maintaining effective policing against a changing economic climate.

This career opportunity is open to exceptional Sergeants with valid NPPF/OPSRE part I or OSPRE part II looking for promotion. Inspectors with a proven track record of effective delivery are also encouraged to apply. This will be an extremely competitive process with only the highest calibre of individuals being selected.

All expressions of interest must be submitted by 23.55 hours on Thursday 12th December 2019, with completed applications being submitted by 23.55 hours on Friday 3rd January 2020.

Queries in respect of this opportunity should be sent to the Met Recruitment Team at MetPromotions@sscl.gse.gov.uk or by telephone on 01633 632500 for external candidates and 01633 630934 (option 5 followed by option 3) for internal candidates.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a diverse workforce made up from all communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.
