Job Title: CTP - ICT Configuration Analyst

Salary: £32,194 to £34,452 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £32,194 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £34,452 will be via incremental progression.

Your task will be to provide expert asset and configuration analytical support for Counter Terrorism Policing. The main contact for Asset & Configuration, you’ll report to the National Cryptographic and Configuration Manager, and work as part of a small but dedicated team.

Day to day, you’ll maintain relevant databases, manage user licence records for multiple SaaS platforms, conduct site audits and create validation reports for senior leaders and external partners. In short, you’ll tackle all aspects of asset and configuration management, including both hardware and software. 

To make the grade, you’ll need a proven track record in a similar role. We’re looking for experience in Asset and CMDB management, gained within an ITSM framework lead environment. With this background, you’ll know all about data comparison, service management processes and use of Service Now. An organised and analytical team worker, you work with others and express yourself well.

Job Summary

This role will report to the National Cryptographic and Configuration Manager providing expert asset and configuration analytical support to the CTPHQ and wider CT policing network. The post holder will work as part of a small team and manage and maintain the Asset and Configuration Management Databases. The role will include all aspects of asset and configuration management including both hardware and software. To be successful in this role you will have had at least two years’ experience of working within an Asset and Configuration role with a proven track record within that environment.

Key Tasks

The post holder responsibilities will be:

  • Provide primary interface to the National CT/DE network with regard to Asset and Configuration management
  • Active management and maintenance of the CMDB in Service Now (SNow) and the creation and maintenance of all types of configuration items
  • Management and provision of user licence records for multiple Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms
  • Creation of validation reports based upon CMDB data using SNow to both internal senior management and external partners/stakeholders
  • Conduct site audits where required to check the validity of existing records to ensure the integrity of the Database
  • Maintenance and audit of supported site records
  • Routine management and fulfilment of Incident, Service and Change requests

Vetting

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Developed Vetting (DV) level before taking up the post. 

Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong Analytical Skills
  • Strong Experience of Data Comparison
  • Demonstrable experience of Asset and CMDB management in within an ITSM framework lead environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of Service Management processes, with the ability to support process mapping and development, workflows, service measurement incl. transition planning and Release and Control Validation
  • Strong experience and ability to prioritise, execute tasks and make sound decisions in a busy pressured environment
  • Working knowledge of using Service Now as a service management tool
  • A high level of written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise with both internal and external customers, colleagues and suppliers
