Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA) to Commander of Aviation Policing

Salary: £28,511 to £30,504 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £28,511 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £30,504 will be via incremental progression.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Dealing with correspondence and telephone enquiries
  • Act as meeting secretary to include minute taking
  • Maintaining a busy diary to include arranging appointments by sending electronic calendar invites and booking passes and escorting visitors as required
  • Prepare and circulate papers for meetings ensuring principle is prepared in advance
  • Booking accommodation and making travel arrangements as required
  • The production of internal newsletters
  • Additional administrative tasks as directed by staff officer

Rest Days

(Internal applicants only) Specialist Operations has an expectation that officers will arrive into post with no more than 5 outstanding rest days as a maximum.

Essential Criteria:

  • Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to liaise with personnel at all levels in the MPS including Management Board and outside Agencies
  • Time management and strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Able to work on own initiative
  • Good information technology skills (Competent in Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Able to exercise judgement under pressure
  • Work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise conflicting demands
  • Able to deal with confidential matters appropriately

 Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of providing secretarial support to Senior Manager
