Job Title: Public Reporting Case Manager

Salary: The starting salary is £33,348, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.

The salary is broken down as £30,507 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £32,639. Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Job Description:

The purpose of the Public Reporting team is to investigate and prosecute all traffic offences reported by members of the public through visual media and decide on the correct disposal option for each offence in a very demanding environment.  The Public Reporting team are specifically responsible for assessing the evidence in cases that are due to go to court.  This role is one of the front line measures in place as part of the Mayors Vision Zero to drastically reduce road deaths and injuries.

Key Responsibilities

What does the average day look like? The core duties include:

  • Investigate / assess case files ensuring evidence is correct, and relevant MPS systems updated.
  • Viewing footage daily of public recorded media.
  • Uploading and downloading of media footage onto various in house and third party applications.
  • Make cases court ready by printing relevant information from the Police National Computer (PNC) and Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA).
  • Contact insurance companies to make relevant checks for cases.
  • Record daily statistics in relation to workloads ensuring that statutory time limits and deadlines are adhered to.
  • Ensure enquiries are carried out in accordance with standard operating procedures and monitor progress of cases.
  • Monitor ongoing cases to make sure legislative time limits do not expire.
  • Deal with telephone, email and written enquiries in relation to cases allocated.
  • Ensure that the line manager is kept informed of problematic cases.
  • Ensure the relevant enquiry or operation as directed is undertaken in order to investigate traffic related matters and they are carried out effectively.
  • Liaise with DVLA and insurance companies in relation to obtaining up to date information pertaining to the case.
  • Comply with GDPR and data protection regarding encryption of data sharing of video files.
  • Case files should be completed and vetted before preparation for court.
  • Prepare files for court, vet and prepare the Single Justice Procedure Notice via connect.
  • Any of duties as directed.
