This responsible role is your opportunity to lead the technical development of the mobile device forensic capabilities within the country’s largest and most advanced digital forensics service.

It’s an exciting time to join the Digital, Cyber and Communications Service. We’re making significant changes to the way we operate. This includes implementing a digital forensic network across London by connecting the Central Laboratory, eight digital forensic hubs as well as over 90 digital forensic kiosks. Further, we will be delivering the output of digital forensic activities to investigating officers directly to their laptops.

You will undertake complex evidential casework so that forensically acquired data can be applied to the criminal justice system. The results of your work will bring dangerous criminals to justice. You will be a technical leader, mentoring and training others within the team as well as disseminating new techniques to staff in the digital forensic hubs. You will produce documentation of techniques and contribute to work to ensure the ISO 17025 process and procedures are designed, updated and implemented.

Your time will be spent in a diverse, dynamic working environment, where the next day always brings a different challenge.

Your profile

  • Ideally you have a proven record undertaking complex casework and developing techniques in mobile device forensics.
  • You will have the skills to document procedures in support of our ISO 17025 quality management system.
  • You need a degree in a relevant technical
discipline and/ or evidence of significant relevant experience.
  • It’s important you have experience of criminal investigations and a good understanding of the understanding of the rules regarding evidence gathering and its presentation at court.
