Job Title: Caseworker

Salary: £26,611 to £28,604 plus an allowance of £1639. You will receive £26,611 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £28,604 will be via incremental progression.

Location: Empress State Building, Hammersmith.

This is an exciting time to be working as Caseworker for the Metropolitan Police Service. In addition to large-scale transformation, there's the unique and ever-evolving challenge of policing London. This means that as a Caseworker, there are more opportunities for you to get involved with making London the safest global city in a time of unprecedented change within the UK's largest Police Service.

What does the average day look like? Your core duties will include:


  • Use the DPS Centurion database to search, create, update, check and result complaints and conduct matters.      
  • Manage and monitor allocated cases and liaise directly with BCU’s and external agencies as required.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload to meet the units set targets.
  • Deal with correspondence from internal and external sources.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of stationery and supplies, including ordering and collecting of items.
  • Ability to respond quickly and efficiently to complainants via email or telephone to triage, understand and resolve their complaint.

                          Essential Criteria

                          • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive information.
                          • Ability to work in a team environment and competently on own initiative.
                          • Computer literacy - good working knowledge of IT applications especially word and outlook.
                          • Good keyboard skills.
                          • An organised approach to work and ability to achieve objectives within given deadlines.
                          • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
                          • Able to demonstrate adherence to College of Policing competency and values framework.

                          Desirable Criteria

                          • Previous experience in complaints handling.
