Help us re-sell 13,000 vehicles per year

The Vehicle Recovery & Examination Service (VRES) plays a key part in tackling vehicle crime. Open 24/7, 365, it recovers, stores and examines vehicles collected from London’s streets. As a Vehicle Disposal Manager, you’ll be responsible for disposing of 13,000 vehicles per year. It’s a chance to work with an excellent team and keep London safe by supporting frontline policing.

VRES processes over 40,000 vehicles per year, ranging from e-scooters, motorcycles and cars all the way up to HGVs. Most have been involved in collisions, used for serious and organised crime or seized because the drivers have no licence or insurance. This work helps to protect Londoners and is integral to wider policing services.

Your task is to get the best re-sale value for the 13,000 vehicles that VRES disposes of every year. That means building strong relationships with disposal contractors and other suppliers, and managing their performance. You’ll be expected to travel round the country and attend physical auctions to complete audit checks and make sure that high standards are maintained. You’ll then produce and present reports for a range of colleagues and contacts.

We’re looking for a commercially sharp professional with experience in the automotive resale industry. Organised and adaptable, you’ll be used to allocating vehicles for sale using a network of logistics, inspection and re-marketing providers, both physical and e-marketing. You’ll also be capable of supervising staff, challenging suppliers constructively and investigating new avenues of revenue generation. Familiar with relevant legislation, you’ll have a full driving licence and sound judgment.

Above all, you’ll have the drive and enthusiasm to support the fight against crime and protect the people of London. In return, we can offer generous benefits and the chance to build a career with the country’s largest police service.
