Job Title: Pound Manager

Salary: The starting salary is £41,101, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.

The salary is broken down as £34,448 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £36,864 Plus a 12.5% Shift Allowance, location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

In Operational Support Services we provide a range of services to the Met, including providing Fleet, Vehicle Recovery, Catering, Travel, Cultural Services, Uniform, ID Passes, Exhibit Management, Records Management and Local support to officers. Whilst these services are quite different in what they deliver, the desired outcomes of delighting our customers, improving performance, delivering innovative services that are value for money and supporting and developing our people are the same.

As a Pound Manager you’ll be managing a team processing a wide range of vehicles that have been seized and recovered to our pounds. This will involve managing the team’s time, overseeing their performance, and ensuring they have the support they need in dealing with the public. From checking vehicle identification and condition, to maintaining their forensic integrity, you’ll play a major role in our operation. Supervising the use of specialist moving equipment, you’ll also make sure that your team operate safely in a busy, 24-hour operation. Undertake weekly/monthly audits, compiling operational weekly/monthly reports, responsible for staff training requirements, deliver staff briefings, management of supplies and equipment, oversee compliance of policies and procedures. Deal with enquiries from internal and external partner and agencies.

Key Responsibilities: Essential Criteria 

  • Applicants must hold a full substantive driving licence.
  • Emergency Life Support and Officer Safety trained, or willingness to be trained.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to establish and build positive relationships with our customers and contractors.
  • Excellent customer service skills to ensure our customers receive a premium service.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to correctly identify issues and determine the most effective solutions.
  • IT literacy including working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs with the ability to pick up a whole suite of policing programs including CAD, PNC, ELVIS, Connect (full training provided)

Knowledge

  • Understanding of RTA1988, Road Traffic Regs 1984, PACE legislation, public order, road death investigation practises and those relating to the removal, loading and unloading, transportation, seizure, storage and disposal of motor vehicles

Skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Effective conflict and issue resolution skills
  • Organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
