Job Title: Met CC Area Delivery Lead

Salary: £50,897 to £62,015 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £50,897 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £62,015 will be via incremental progression.

Location: Primarily designated MetCC centre (Lambeth or Hendon) although, the successful candidates will be required to attend other MPS sites, or locations outside of the MPS estate as part of the role.

 

Role Profile:

The role holder will play a pivotal role as part of the MetCC’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The Area Delivery Lead will ensure that our people are well-led, equipped and supported, championing difference and diversity of thought to create an environment to thrive. The role holders will drive performance and efficiencies influencing other Business Groups by collaborating with senior leaders such as Front-Line Policing (FLP) Superintendents by improving processes and performance across each of the BCU’s.

Key Responsibilities:

The Area Delivery Lead will be responsible for driving performance; maintaining a culture of learning and development, focusing on professionalism, welfare, and attendance; ensuring staff have opportunities for lateral and promotional progression, to improve the overall OCU’s efficiency and effectiveness.

The role holders will have direct line management of the Operational Duty Officers and as senior line management for all operational staff at their respected Contact Centre.

They will be the final point of escalation and decision making for operational and staff related matters at one of the three MetCC Contact Centres.

The role holders have accountability to ensure that all operational functions of Command and Control within their respective Contact Centre as part of the “Critical National Infrastructure” remains functional to meet the expectations and needs of the public and the organisation.

They will perform the role of the Premises Fire Lead (PFL) for each of their respective buildings.

There may also be a need in the future for the successful applicants to take up another change portfolio subject to the business needs. And this will be subject to review by the SLT in the future.

Post Basis:

Full and Part time – Permanent

Please note these roles will operate on a Monday to Friday basis, during typical office hours yet to be decided, but likely to be between 8am to 6pm. Therefore, they will not attract premium pay for rostered working or shift disturbance allowance (SDA). Other allowances will be payable in accordance with the Police Staff Pay & Allowances Manual. Flexibility around hours will be required when workload demands. Flexible working may be considered in line with the role.

Essential Criteria:

Advanced operational knowledge and experience of:

  • Driving the highest standards of professional conduct within a large workforce following MPS Code of Ethics and Staff Regulations
  • The organisations and OCU’s strategic direction and priorities
  • A proven history of delivering strong performance outcomes based on quality and supported by data
  • A proven history of managing attendance
  • Business Continuity processes with an understanding of the necessity to test and develop these
  • Recognising grievances and acting as an Informal Resolution Champion to support early interventions in order to address concerns
  • Knowledge of Frontline Policing (FLP) and their respective Key performance Indicators (KPI’s) in particular relation to priority crimes

 Desirable Criteria:

  • Knowledge of MetCC relevant technologies and environments (FC, despatch, Pan London, D101)
  • Conversant in Health and Safety legislation, The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 legislation and statutory requirements within
  • National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) qualification or equivalent
  • Experience of leading, managing and dealing directly with legal correspondences received in relation to Health and Safety without further escalation
  • Author and review Health and Safety Assurance statements and risk assessments in line with MPS policy, current case law, Health and Safety legislation and fire regulations
  • Lead, manage and deal directly with legal correspondences received in relation to Health and Safety without further escalation
  • Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) qualification or equivalent
  • National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (SQA level 3) or equivalent
