Job Title: LMS Administrator

Salary: £28,511 to £30,504 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £28,511 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £30,504 will be via incremental progression.

As a LMS Administrator, you’ll help us to get the most from our Learning Management System (LMS) and help us stay at the forefront of 21st century policing.

You’ll be responsible for supporting the delivery, maintenance, and development of the Met’s LMS across both aspects of the MPS individual learning pathways and career development. We want to modernise the learning journey, from planning to enrolment, you’ll implement best practices in learning and talent solutions. With excellent interpersonal skills, you’ll provide daily platform support to front-line officers and staff.

You’ll enjoy working collaboratively, as part of a diverse team enabling learning and development. You’ll draw on their experience as well as your own to ensure the smooth transition from build to delivery. Plus, you’ll identify opportunities to improve, and liaise with key stakeholders and the Met’s wider learning network.

With a keen eye for detail, you’ll work with an extended team to ensure data capture and load is appropriately managed. You’ll have a robust quality assurance process and use it to oversee the correct allocation of resources. Plus, you’ll development a knowledge and understanding of data protection and legislation.

Job Summary

The role holder will help deliver and maintain the development of the operational performance of the Met’s Learning Management System (LMS), providing daily support to ensure the operation of the LMS remains stable, and support the collaboration with cross-functional teams for the process of information exchange.

The role holder will be part of a diverse team enabling L&D to deliver a standardised & professional planning, scheduling, and logistics service by managing resources to deliver blended learning across the MPS.

Key Result Areas 

Reporting to the Senior LMS Analyst, the role holder will help support the administration and functionality of the Cornerstone OnDemand Learning and Development tool, MyCareer development roadmap and the Service Desk support. Therefore, the role holder will undertake the following:

  • Manage relationships to deliver a partnership approach for the planning, scheduling, logistics & enrolment of training by drawing upon the team’s subject matter expert knowledge of Police Officer and Police staff culture to provide advice, support and guidance to front-line Officers and Staff scheduling their own training through the self-service function of the LMS
  • Utilise the LMS to drive the creation and distribution of management reports highlighting key areas such as learner attrition, course allocation and course wastage data
  • Maintenance of the 'master learner and development records’ and ensure the team proactively identify gaps, to ensure the smooth transition from ‘build to delivery’

Ensuring agreed functional outputs are implemented in relation to the planning, scheduling, logistics and enrolment of police officer & staff learning journeys within the following areas / academies:

  • This role is key to ensure that correct scheduling data is entered onto the LMS scheduling framework, which will afford greater levels of automation through the scheduling journey. Therefore, the role holder will need a key eye for the details of the information being placed within the system to help drive a robust quality assurance process
  • Responsibility for management & compliance for LMS access rights, supporting the LMS ensuring relevant system updates / architectural changes are completed when required
  • Proactively seek to continuously improve data quality and integrity within the LMS & its interrogation within other data systems (inclusive of data cleansing)

  • Reports to the Senior LMS Analyst
  • Engagement with organisational change programmes to ensure resulting training needs are identified and met

External to the Met

  • Monitor developments in industry delivery standards to enable continual improvement within organisational constraints

  • Understanding of LMS and Training business processes, possibly in an international or professional services environment
  • Cornerstone OnDemand experience or other HRIS or LMS
  • Core, Learning, Performance and Talent Management Reporting KPIS
  • Interest in, and aptitude for, developing new areas of PeopleSoft functionality
  • Technically adept with new technologies
  • Proficient in the management of digitally enabled scheduling tools contained within an LMS, alongside knowledge of the systems architecture and data reporting capabilities that seek to reduce operational inefficiencies through the automation of manual tasks
  • Excellent knowledge of data protection, data legislation and data industry standards
  • Excellent knowledge of master data management
  • Strong understanding of data retrieval performance (queries and caching) and the ability to optimise designs/queries for scale
  • The role holder should be experienced in leading teams to undertake debugging / troubleshooting of functional and technical issues
  • Strong understanding of performance / optimisation techniques
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Conversant in algorithms, software design patterns, and knowledge of how they integrate to and operate within the LMS
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • The role holder has excellent customer-focused communication skills in providing support to senior MPS stakeholders to maximise the benefits of the LMS
