Job Title: Detective Development Support Staff
Salary: The starting salary is £45,451, which includes allowances totalling £6,928.
The salary is broken down as £38,523 basic salary. Plus, a market rate allowance of £4,000, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: MPS wide. Based within an allocated BCU with flexibility to travel to other sites as needed. This role is deemed operational, and workplace attendance is required 80% of the time.

As Detective Development Support Staff (DDSS), this will be your chance to help guide the next generation of Trainee Detectives into the next step of their careers.
This is a central and crucial role, working as part of a small team, to lead the Met’s approach on Trainee Detective Constables development through coaching, mentoring and assessment of Professionalising Investigations Programme portfolios.
Each BCU will have a small team of staff focussing on supporting TDCs in the workplace.
Staff will work closely with TDCs within the BCUs and provide assistance across all of the main sites to cover core office working hours, with flexibility where the need arises.

To be eligible, you will need to evidence recent and detailed experience in the conduct of Police investigations and conducting interviews as a Detective in a PIP2 role. You will also be able to call on a good working knowledge of criminal law and of the criminal justice system, and well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team will be key, while a coaching certificate would be ideal.
You will need to complete a personal statement outlining your relevant skills and specific Detective experience as outlined. Please detail your knowledge of the new detective pathways and any experience of assessing, coaching, training, or mentoring new officers and attach this to your application.
