Job Title: Strategic Planning & Performance Analyst

Salary: £39,469 to £47,089 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £39,469 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £47,089 will be via incremental progression.

Contract – Fixed term, until 31/03/2024 (with the potential for further extension subject to funding and performance). Met staff will be posted into this role.

Allowances:  A location allowance will be awarded to Met/external applicants and secondees already in receipt of this allowance. Secondees from other forces, outside of the London area will not be entitled to this allowance but instead can claim any travel expenses incurred.

Vetting level: RV/CTC

NPCC Strategic Planning and Performance (SPP) Team

The Strategic Planning and Performance (SPP) team forms a part of the NPCC Strategic Hub (the Hub), the SPP team provides strategic and business planning functions to the NPCC including research and analysis, stakeholder engagement and partnership working, and risk management capabilities. The SPP team supports the development and coordination of activity across the NPCC, and the team works effectively with partners and stakeholders across policing, building effective, collaborative relationships and ensuring a coordinated response to policing issues at all of levels.

THE ROLE

To work with the Strategy, Planning and Performance team to deliver an evidence-based performance, risk, and assurance service as part of an annual governance cycle which provides high quality, insightful analysis to support the delivery of NPCC objectives.

Through the development and implementation of solid approaches and methodologies, the postholder will deliver analysis and insight to recognise emerging risks, steer organisational direction, inform decision making at all levels and provide assurance.  Analysts will be responsible for:

  • Analysing and informing the evidence base for NPCC strategy and plans and developing the approach to evidence based policing to support NPCC Co-ordination Committees.
  • Proactively identify areas of interest and insight to support the delivery of NPCC strategic objectives. 
  • Analysing and understanding the performance, risk, and assurance environment to lead the development and creation of high quality, insightful analytical products that enable decision making.
  • Developing our approach to the automation of performance information to make the most efficient use of data and enable a self-service approach to management information.
  • Reporting to the team developing the performance, risk and assurance framework and approach as part of a broader organisational governance approach.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.
