Job Title: National Police Chief Council Digital - Data and Technology (DDat) Committee Coordinator

Salary: The starting salary is £76,843, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.

The salary is broken down as £74,002 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £85,474 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Remote working nationally within UK. THE NATIONAL POLICE CHIEFS’ COUNCIL (NPCC)

NPCC DDaT COORDINATION COMMITTEE
The NPCC Digital, Data and Technology Committee plays a crucial role working with senior stakeholders across the policing landscape, influencing and providing advice and guidance. This is achieved through leading on the strategic approach to digital, data and technology on behalf of policing.  The Committee is undergoing a review and refresh to ensure it is appropriately positioned to ensure policing can prioritise and effectively influence the investment into data and technology, has access to technology that meets operational requirements, and can hold the relevant service providers to account.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic leader to support the Chair of the NPCC Digital, Data and Technology Committee and provide enhanced national coordination, complementing the current NPCC arrangements, to support forces to improve in DDaT, navigate the increasingly complex DDaT landscape.

As the Committee Coordinator you will provide support to the NPCC DDaT Committee Chair. You will also be responsible for working in collaboration with Committee portfolio leads. You will drive the delivery against the DDaT Strategy, coordinating strategic level direction and planning, delivering against the plan and engaging with key stakeholders.

The successful candidate would need to have the following experiences and skills:

  • To have detailed experience and knowledge of implementing business change at a strategic level.
  • Strong ability to effectively challenge and influence stakeholders, quickly acquiring and retaining credibility, building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and working collaboratively to achieve objectives.
  • Able to provide advice and guidance to police forces and senior policing leaders.
  • Proven experience in attending governance meetings and/or boards, and deputising where appropriate.

VETTING

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.

Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a national role and there will be a requirement to travel to London and throughout the UK Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.

The Metropolitan Police manage HR for NPCC recruitment.
