Job Title: Royalty and Specialist Protection - Civilian Security Officer

Salary: The starting salary is £28,252. The salary is broken down as £28,252 basic salary which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £30,222. There is also an additional location allowance of £1,841, a non-pensionable allowance of £1000 as well as a 20% shift disturbance allowance.

Location: Royal sites protected by the Metropolitan Police, vacancies at both London and Windsor. Candidates will be asked for their site preference with vacancies at both London and Windsor. These will be allocated dependent on demand.

 

The Metropolitan police has responsibility for the protection and security of a number of Royal sites in London and Windsor. We need Security Officers to join our team providing 24-hour security coverage with 12 hour shifts. You will be working closely with Police Officers as part of a security and protection operation.

The role holder will join a team of security officers providing security duties including access control. As a uniformed security officer, you will regularly deal with incidents outside and some of these will involve confrontation with difficult and sometimes hostile people. You will need to be reliable, discrete and trustworthy with the ability to communicate professionally and diplomatically at all levels within the organisation as well as an ability to remain calm in sometimes stressful situations.

As you’ll be working closely with the public, you’ll need excellent communication skills, be calm and professional. On joining, you will be expected to sign a Confidentiality Agreement. It’s important that you are polite but also highly vigilant. You should also be a natural multi-tasker who can perform under pressure.

Whilst recruitment into this post is on a permanent basis, please be aware that this role is also currently within the scope of a commercial exercise that may result in the role being subject to Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment (TUPE) considerations and therefore may transfer from the Metropolitan Police Service to an alternative employer at the start of 2025. Key Tasks

  • Control Access to the Main entrances ensuring only authorised staff and visitors gain access
  • Ensure compliance with all internal security procedures
  • Working with Police Officer colleagues to maintain the safe and secure operation of sites

Pending a posting to RaSP, you will be expected

  • To be vetted to RV/CTC as a minimum requirement
  • Successful posting to RaSP will be subject to signing a confidentiality agreement and statement of expectation.
