The Met is seeking outstanding leaders to join its senior leadership team. Policing London is a privilege and serving the diverse communities is at the heart of this privilege. Protect a city that can rival any in the world for its history, vibrancy, diversity and culture.

LOCATIONS: ACROSS LONDON

OPEN TO: SUBSTANTIVE TRANSFERREES AND SUBSTANTIVE CHIEF INSPECTORS / DETECTIVE CHIEF INSPECTORS ON PROMOTION.

Life as a Met superintendent

Our ambition is to be the most trusted police service in the world. As a superintendent, you will need to provide strong leadership in a time of unprecedented change within the UK’s largest Police Service. You will bring to life through your leadership our values of respect, integrity, empathy, courage and accountable.

This is a role where you have a once in a generation opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering the reform we have promised London - delivering A New Met for London. That will take commitment, passion and determination.

We are seeking officers with a strong track record in operational delivery. You will be expected to work with Londoners to tackle crime and make neighbourhoods safer – together, helping to build the strongest neighbourhood policing London has seen. You will deliver the kind of policing that truly puts the public first.

Relationship building will be one of your strengths – externally with a range of local, London wide and national partners and stakeholders. Internal relationships are as important too. You will work hard to set your people up to succeed and create an environment where our frontline has what it needs to do this difficult job for London – and do it well.

As a leader you will evidence your commitment to high standards and determination to drive out those who fall short. We expect you to live our values, bringing them to life for your team so they are more than just words. We are changing our culture and you will have an active part to play in that.

Your decision making will be guided by our principles starting with putting the needs of the Londoners above all else.

We’ve got bold plans and things are changing in the Met. Being a superintendent, matters more now than ever in delivering more trust; less crime and high standards.

We are committed to flexible and blended working, whether this be job share or compressed hours. We are also happy to offer more choice on future roles to enable flexibility.
