Job Title: Strategic Performance & Planning Manager

Salary: £50,897 to £62,015 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. Candidates that apply for this role will be notified if the role band is changed. Fixed term and posted staff will be awarded a location allowance. Secondees will not be entitled to this allowance but instead can claim any travel expenses incurred.

NPCC Strategic Planning and Performance (SPP) Team

The Strategic Planning and Performance (SPP) team forms a part of the NPCC Strategic Hub (the Hub), the SPP team provides strategic and business planning functions to the NPCC including research and analysis, stakeholder engagement and partnership working, and risk management capabilities. The SPP team supports the development and coordination of activity across the NPCC, and the team works effectively with partners and stakeholders across policing, building effective, collaborative relationships and ensuring a coordinated response to policing issues at all of levels.

 

THE ROLE

The Strategic Planning and Performance Manager is a leadership role, which will set direction for performance and insight across the NPCC.  The postholder will be responsible for a team of analysts who will deliver strategic research, analysis, and performance insight.  The output will contribute to enhanced efficiency and evidenced-based decisions across the NPCC.

 

In addition to analytical and performance management, the Strategic Planning and Performance Manager will contribute to the NPCC strategic and business planning function across the hub by ensuring regular data and insight reporting through a data strategy, which they will develop, implement and manage. 

The successful candidate would need to have the following skill and experience:

  • Experience of working within a policing environment.
  • Extensive experience of providing advice and guidance on approaches to performance management and helping to embed a culture of evidence-based decision making.
  • In depth knowledge of data management, setting frameworks for the collection, collation, analysis and distribution of data.

 

  • Knowledge of standards and procedures relating to the handling of police data.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Occasional national travel may be required. Travel expenses will be paid if location allowance is not being received, or when travel falls outside of the home to work journey. NPCC will pay for overnight accommodation if required.
