Job Title: Royalty & Specialist Protection - Special Escort Group - Office Administrator - Band E

Salary: £28,511 to £30,504 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £28,511 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £30,504 will be via incremental progression.

Location: Maltby Street Seg Base

 

The Special Escort Group provides armed escort operations to ensure the safe movement of members of the Royal family, Government ministers, visiting dignitaries, high value and high risk loads in the UK. This office is based in Central London.

Special Escort Group - Administrator

The Special Escort Group are seeking an administrative assistant to assist the Operations Sergeant with the day-to-day running of the Special Escort Group. Main activities of the role include.

  • The initial point of contact for the Special Escort Group (SEG). This is on the telephone, on email, on the Police Radio system and for visitors to the base.
  • Monitoring the building security systems via CCTV.
  • Monitor and maintain the Special Escort Group Mailbox. This includes creating Escort Briefing Records from the SEG Request forms, updating the requests and ‘Day Book’ as required and archiving completed records.
  • Managing request Boards to ensure they are up-to-date and jobs are completed by the Team Leader and then filed appropriately.
  • Review Annual Leave requests from officers, and authorise (as appropriate)
  • Maintaining up-to-date information for officers (OT Codes / Principal Call Signs / Nominal Roles etc.)
  • Manage the Notice of Intended Prosecutions (NIP’s) process for obtaining cancellations.
  • Maintaining S.E.G. Officer Database.
  • Sending the SEG Tasking Duties to relevant people on daily basis.
  • Prepare invoices for Special Service Agreements.
  • Collate various statistics in relation to SEG as required by line managers.

Vetting

This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.

Additionally, this material is of particular sensitivity to the UK and its distribution must be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances dual nationals (of which one element is British) may also be granted access. However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed the post holder will not be able to see the intelligence material and will not be able to perform their duties. For the purpose of safeguarding national security and in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) OR Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post.

Essential For The Role, e.g. qualifications, licenses, languages, training  

Essential criteria:

  • Good Communication Skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel etc.)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Proven experience in data collation, maintaining spreadsheets and competent in both Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Operational experience in CARMs, inputting shifts, A/L and Training (or a willingness to learn).
  • Ability to prioritise work in a busy and demanding environment.

Additional Information

  • This role does NOT come with a shift allowance and will be predominantly 0700-1500hrs Monday to Friday. In addition, there is an expectation that you work on 5 specific dates on weekends during the year to support policing operations in relation ‘Trooping the Colour’ and ‘Remembrance Weekend’.
