Job Title: Central Jigsaw Administrator

Salary: The starting salary is £36,228, which includes allowances totalling £3,009.

The salary is broken down as £33,219 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £35,541. Plus, a location allowance of £2,009 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Jigsaw is the Metropolitan Police's specialist public protection program for managing registered sex offenders and other serious offenders. It involves both borough-level teams that monitor offenders in the community and a Central Jigsaw team that manages overall policy, performance, and quality assurance. Jigsaw works in coordination with partner agencies like the National Probation Service and the London prisons to manage risk and protect the public. 

This role will be within the Central Jigsaw Team, supporting the team with administration on its management of registered sex offenders / other serious offenders. The role supports the Sergeant and the efficient running of the Central Jigsaw team as well as support to the Lead Responsible Officer, other senior leaders, and the operational Jigsaw teams. You will handle core administrative tasks, intelligence and information flowing and support the Sergeant of the Central Jigsaw team with tasks as required.

  • Regular interaction within Jigsaw teams, including frequent team meetings (hybrid of F2F / virtual) 
  • Supporting team members with administrative tasks, document management and coordination with following stakeholders through regular meetings/email/telephone communication: BCU Jigsaw teams, wider FLP teams, related OCUs (e.g. Specialist Crimes). These engagements will be directed by supervisor, and the role will be providing administrative support.  They will be hybrid, with some virtual / F2F meetings.
  • Communicating with team leads to provide updates on related administrative tasks / progress through emails / meetings 
  • Supporting supervisors in coordinating committees / working groups, and communicating minutes / outputs via email  
  • Supporting supervisors through administrative tasks, such as, template formatting, intelligence, updated spreadsheets and preparing reports that will be shared with senior stakeholders.
  • Handling sensitive data, related to sexual offenders / serious offenders. Ensuring confidentiality and not mishandling (e.g. sending to wrong person) with attention to detail when completing tasks.  
  • Scheduling and managing administrative activities across a variety of stakeholders (e.g. scheduling meetings) 
  • Documentation / version control will require high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

The role holder will have knowledge of:

  • Understanding of the MPS Policy Management SOP, MPS policy frameworks, MPS policy development processes & MPS policy implementation  
  • Knowledge of MPS’s structure, hierarchy and key governance forums 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Familiarity with the MPS’s mission, values and strategic vision (e.g. NMFL)  
  • Knowledge of management of Sexual and Violent Offenders

 Skills 

  • Familiarity with key MS Products (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Teams) 
  • Proficient in the use of MPS intelligence systems (Connect & PNC etc)
  • An adaptable and flexible approach to workload requirements
  • Stakeholder administrative support (minute taking, meeting scheduling etc.)  
  • Good standard of written and communication skills to support in coordinating stakeholders 
  • Attention to detail to support in proof reading policy documents (e.g. spelling) 
  • Diplomacy and discretion when handling policy that has not been disseminated / published 
  • Demonstrate flexibility within a team environment to ensure the needs of Unit are met 
  • Ability to spot risks when deadlines slip and bring it to the attention of the Supervisor
  • VISOR trained
  • MOSAVO trained

Experience

  • Managing and maintaining documents (e.g. version control) 
  • Providing administrative support to teams (e.g. organising meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes etc.) 
  • Working / providing administrative support within cross-functional teams 
  • Fully acquainted with Met Information systems and databases 
  • Experience in the management of Registered sex offenders 
  • Possess a working knowledge of VISOR
  • Experience of communicating, negotiating and influencing strategic and operational delivery within the policing environment
