Job Title: People & Development Junior Manager

Salary: The starting salary is £37,289, which includes allowances totalling £2,841.

The salary is broken down as £34,448 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £36,864 Plus, a location allowance of £1,841 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

Location: Kilburn Police Station - Must be prepared to travel within reason.


In Operational Support services we provide a range of services to the Met, including providing Fleet, Vehicle Recovery, Catering, Travel, Cultural Services, Uniform, ID Passes, Exhibit Management and Local support to officers. Whilst these services are quite different in what they deliver, the desired outcomes of delighting our customers, improving performance, delivering innovative services that are value for money and supporting and developing our people are the same.

Job Purpose

As a People & Development Junior Manager you will be responsible for contributing to the optimisation of the workforce model for successful service delivery. This includes successful running of many processes in recruitment, well-being, learning & development, talent management, resourcing, and people analytics.

The role holder must be prepared to travel within reason.

KEY ACTIVITES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver key end to end processes and meet agreed SLAs for people functions and ensure they are set up to succeed - check success and adapt as necessary.
  • Extract and manipulate people data to produce visually appealing and accurate reports and enable decisions.
  • Present people related reports to senior management and peers and understand and explain the data.
  • Nurture and develop team to ensure rotation and skills development.
  • Build relationships with key customer stakeholders, ensuring we are delivering above expected standards and raising the profile of the People team.
  • Analyse various sources of HR data (qualitative and quantitative) to make sound decisions and challenge / probe to improve where possible.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Very good knowledge in several People areas (as listed above) - the ability to proactively deliver end to end processes without being managed.
  • Good data analysis and insights skills and comfortable with the technology 
  • Good knowledge of MPS/HR policy and interpreting this to inform planning and decision making.
  • Good report design and writing skills.
  • Good mentor and coach to ensure team develop.
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiastic to learn and build skills in People and HR

Additional Information

Due to business reasons please be aware there is a tenure period of 2 years for this role. This will be confirmed at the time of posting, and it is the expectation that normally the officer or staff member will be able to commit to the tenure, as a minimum. Tenure agreements are subject to annual review and may be changed at any time for reasons other than career development, such as considerable investment in training.
