Job Title: Business Data Support Analyst

Salary: £32,194 to £34,452 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £32,194 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £34,452 will be via incremental progression.

If so, then the Transformation Directorate want to hear from you.  We are running a campaign for a number of Data Analyst Officer roles to work in our Integrated Design and Delivery (IDD) function whose mission is to improve the effectiveness of the Met Police. About the team

The Business Design and Analysis team within IDD includes individuals with a diverse range of specialist skills and interests that we are seeking to enhance. The team seeks to transform how the Met operates as a business, supporting business data analysis within transformation programmes, providing advice and assurance as well as delivering more complex analysis. We translate strategic priorities into operational capabilities and deliver business data analysis activities to programmes and / or senior management in order to inform investment and business design decisions.

About the role

As a Business Data Support Analyst you will provide an essential role within Transformation, supporting operational effectiveness reviews across the MPS, in order to identify opportunities for efficiency and performance improvements.  This role is about helping the different elements of business understand not only their current impact on user experience, value for money and performance, but also profiling how changes would affect those variables.  The analytical outputs will directly enable the Met to lower crime rates, increase trust and raise standards.  This information then needs to be presented in a clear, concise and accessible form.

Activities include

  • Supporting and developing technical expertise in business data analysis, including service led demand and resource modelling to support and enhance business decisions
  • Generating business analysis outputs and deliverables with focus on insights and visualisation that can support decision making
  • Support the business analysis into programmes with specific focus on oversight, integration, development and assurance. Develop expertise in scenario planning, research, modelling and forecasting, stakeholder analysis and development of business cases
  • Supporting activities to ensure integration of modelling and analysis across the portfolio / programmes and with other enabling functions
  • Supporting the analysis of data from the programmes and the report of relevant strategic insights
  • Extracting data and information from a range of MPS systems and databases
  • Supporting the development of data analysis problem statements via definition of scope and objectives
  • Supporting and contributing to aims of transformation directorate as a joined-up team

Essential Criteria

  • Background in computer science, statistics, mathematics or relevant quantitative/business field
  • Ability to apply structured approaches to identify, investigate, analyse and communicate complex data problems
  • Curiosity and self-motivation to dig deeper into data and problems in order to uncover patterns, trends, and correlations
  • Creative problem solving to develop solutions
  • Experience of collecting and analysing complex quantitative and qualitative data
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence and challenge stakeholders
  • An appetite to work in a collaborative team culture and an environment of coaching and continuous learning

Desireable Criteria

Training in one or more aspects of data science, business analysis, business transformation and/or programme delivery such as BCS, MSP, PRINCE2 or Agile.
