Job Title: Allegations Evidence and Review Manager Band D

Salary: £32,194 to £34,452 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £32,194 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £34,452 will be via incremental progression.

This is an exciting time to be working as an Allegations Evidence and Review Manager for the Metropolitan Police Service. The purpose of the Allegations team is to investigate and prosecute all traffic offences reported by members of the public through visual media and decide on the correct disposal option for each offence in a very demanding environment.  The Allegations team are specifically responsible for assessing the evidence in cases that are due to go to court.  This role is one of the front-line measures in place as part of the Mayors Vision Zero to drastically reduce road deaths and injuries by 2041.

Duties will involve managing an extremely busy and demanding ever growing department, attending meetings, managing staff, reviewing work for final decision making, contact with members of the public for both witnesses and defendants to answer queries and complaints. This will require a calm and confident verbal communication style and a customer focused approach with excellent decision-making capabilities.

What does the average day look like? Your core duties will include:

  • Dip sampling work that is no further actioned to assess decision making of the team
  • Viewing footage daily of public recorded media and making decisions on disposals
  • Uploading and downloading of media footage onto various in house and third-party applications
  • Dealing with Freedom of Information requests
  • Contact members of the public and defendants to deal with queries or issues arising
  • Liaise with other departments regarding video footage for racing and dangerous driving cases
  • Record daily statistics from the entire team for weekly analysis of incoming case
  • Liaise with the DPS regarding official complaints regarding Allegations
  • Hold team meetings and staff one to ones
  • Have regular meetings and interactions with SMT, Dome, Digital Policing, Single Online Home, UK Dashcam Conference, Traffic for London, Operation Snap, Road Safe London and others
  • Problem solve and adjust work measurements for staff with increases in cases reported
  • Ensure staff are kept up to date with all relevant new legislation or changes in prosecution remit for online reporting
  • Liaise with Road Safe London closely for cases that have incorrectly been sent to them to deal instead of the Allegations Unit
  • Monitor relevant social media to ensure Prosecution video submissions are not being shown elsewhere online
  • Monitor issues with team case files being transferred to the prosecutions team.
  • Monitor and keep up to date standard operating procedures, advisory letters and communication emails
  • Day to day management of staff annual leave, appointments, training and work scheduling
  • Liaise with other MO10 unit managers and departments
