POLICING LONDON IS A CHALLENGE LIKE NO OTHER.

LOCATIONS: ACROSS LONDON

OPEN TO: SUBSTANTIVE INSPECTORS WHO HAVE COMPLETED WBA OR HOLD OSPRE PART II.

Our mission is to keep London safe

We’re proud of our people and the job we do to police London. Over 40,000 colleagues are dedicated to serving 9 million+ residents and visitors of one of the world’s most dynamic and diverse global cities.

London doesn’t stand still, and neither do we

In London’s Met you will have plenty of opportunities to continue your professional development. The Met is involved in a wide range of operations and policing events, each presenting their own distinct opportunities to broaden skill sets, on a scale that wouldn’t be found in any other police service.

Life as an Inspector

Our ambition is to be the most trusted police service in the world. As an inspector, you will need to provide strong leadership and management in a time of unprecedented change within the UK’s largest Police Service. The trust and confidence of our customers and communities will be a direct reflection of how you fulfil the challenges of the role. You will achieve this by leading by example, upholding our professional standards, and showing personal flexibility in the face of change.

We’ll look to you to deliver results in line with the Met’s mission and vision, values and priorities, working collaboratively with partners to understand and manage the diverse needs of our customers and communities in all that we do.

As a leader, you’ll face a number of challenges including achieving continued crime reduction, partnerships, increasing community confidence and leading our people so they can be the very best they can be.

Alexis Boon is the Assessment Director for this process and this is what he said about this process:

"Being an inspector was one of the most enjoyable roles I’ve had in my career so far - you lead your own team and have a fantastic opportunity to support, develop and mentor your people to be the best they can be. You are the person your team turns to for advice and guidance.

“You set the direction for your team focusing them on the priorities of the people of London, delivering the very best service to all. As well as leading your team, you work closely with senior leaders and influence key decisions that impact on the public and our people.

I’m sure many of us remember those influential inspectors who helped play a key part in our careers. This is your chance to take your leadership to the next level and be that inspiring role model for others.”
