This is an exciting time to be working as a trainer for the Metropolitan Police Service. We have the largest number of officers in our history and we’re the most diverse we’ve ever been. We’re in a time of unprecedented growth, our 2022 recruitment efforts have increased to recruit 4,000 officers. As a trainer working at both The Peel Centre, Hendon and Marlowe House, Sidcup you can make a real difference in helping provide the best training experience and impact the future of our organisation.

The training team are an integral part of Learning and Development, providing initial recruit training for police officers and police staff, familiarisation and upskilling for people transferring from other policing organisations and people re-joining our organisation, and development courses on a diverse range of policing areas.

Trainers require flexibility, the ability to work autonomously and with passion, good communication skills, good administrative skills, high motivation, willingness to develop others and yourself.

Our courses are predominantly delivered in person in a classroom environment, however there is an ever developing demand for online learning. Home working is not available at this time. Based mainly at either Hendon or Sidcup there will be a requirement to deliver training at other sites. Trainers work a roster of 7am-3pm or 2pm-10pm weekdays, and 9am to 5pm every fourth weekend. Previous proven training experience is essential and you will need to be fully committed to providing training across a range of policing areas at both sites.
